Disaster Proof Home

After losing their home in a fire, Michelle and Will Phinizy built what has been called a disaster proof home. The structure of the home is made of compressed earth bricks using a mixture of cement and local earth. This mixture is resistant to fire, tornados, earthquakes, floods, and extreme temperature. The thick solid walls are also efficient to heat and cool. As shot for The New York Times outside of Gail, TX on 04 November 2021.
